Presented by Emma van Leest at Little Salon
Converging – a landscape of memory, travel, material and magic
The imagined worlds of artist Emma van Leest and clothing and accessory designer Geneine Honey merge in a new work ‘Converging’. A mythical kingdom, inspired by the desert palaces of Rajasthan, India will adorn the window of Little Salon in Little Collins Street in Melbourne’s CBD.
Working from delicate papercuttings she made on her recent travels to India, Emma van Leest will create a rambling multi-layered world of palace walls, secret alcoves and delicate archways. Flitting and wandering through this fantastical space will be characters from Emma’s favourite medieval tales and Mughal court paintings, mingling with creatures from the children’s fables and fairytale forests that Geneine employs in her clothing and accessory range ‘Love’ which is also being exhibited at Design:Made:Trade.
Suspended in space and facing the alleyway, passers-by will catch glimpses of this fairytale kingdom, suggesting the hidden treasures inside Little Salon.
