Christopher Boots designs custom lighting and furniture utilising a plethora of materials such as quartz crystal, leather, gold and seaweed. Primarily process based, many of the resulting works show evidence of construction and revealing what otherwise would be hidden. This beauty is known as wabi-sabi in Japanese. It is the beauty of things modest and humble, the beauty of things unconventional.

 

Creative works by Christopher Boots are the intermediaries between ourselves and our environment. Light, space, material and void, understood and used together in harmony, can create a visual symphony ideal for living. The tactile and visceral qualities of furniture and lighting set up an often unspoken narrative that can be read as a map of a journey that lifts our spirits, help us relax and enjoy the world we spend our waking life in.
